Dress for success

Making the right first impression is vital to your success, so it is important that you decide on the image that you want to convey and dress appropriately in the workplace. Physical presentation and looking your best in the workplace is very important. The clothes you wear and how well you dress, your personal grooming, your posture and body language are important for your own self-image and also for the image of the business in which you are working.

Each workplace has individual requirements for personal presentation. To project a professional image, an office may require women to wear stockings and a skirt, and men to wear a tie, a long-sleeved shirt and trousers. Some occupations make it mandatory to wear a uniform to meet WHS regulations.

Create a slideshow on personal dress presentation and hygiene in the office or your chosen workplace and consider the points below. You may want to have a class discussion before you begin the task. Keep in mind the type of workplace you have chosen to focus on as results will vary.

Your presentation could include images, music, text or voice. Ideally it should be between 2 and 3 minutes in length.
