Charles Bean’s war

For your part Charles, it must've been a great relief to be free from the restraints of the censors now the war was over. How did you go about researching the Official History? Were there any weaknesses in your method?

Charles Bean's Official History of Australia in the war 1914–1918 ran for thousands of pages. At the beginning of his writing, at least, he had very few secondary sources from which to draw. So what sources (.docx 528kB) did he get his information from and does Bean’s disclaimer (.docx 528kB) suggest weaknesses in his methodology?
