Charles Bean’s war

  • the structure of the show

  • the type of language used

  • how the interviewer relates to the subject Gilchrist, and the guests

  • how the interviewer gradually introduces different aspects of Gilchrist’s life.

The script for This is your life—Charles Bean, to be read by the ‘show host’, will be based on answers to the 25 questions provided under the next tab ‘Research the sources’. Each of your classmates will examine two or three sources and then answer the question/s for which they are responsible.

Before beginning to write the script for This is your life—Charles Bean, class members will need to:

  1. read the questions for the script

  2. select questions they would like to research making sure that all questions are allocated

  3. record their names next to the their allocated question/s number in the ‘Assigning questions’ document uploaded earlier.

It's time to examine the primary and secondary sources that will form your answers to the questions. Below, click on the question/s you have been assigned, read the question and information and go to the link/s provided. Take notes as you study the sources.

Now you have examined the sources relevant to your question, it's time to write your draft answers. As well as using historical terms, remember that you are contributing to a script for a television program. Your response should be conversational to suit the style of the This is your life show. It should be 100-200 words in length.
