Amazing race

You are a competitor in the Amazing Race1 Reality program. To complete the race you must:

  • book flights to the following destinations:

    • Paris,

    • New York

    • Mexico City

    • Cairo

    • Beijing

  • complete the task as quickly as possible.

Use your knowledge of time zones to:

  • locate the quickest possible flights to your destinations and connecting flights. Be sure to allow enough time to transfer between flights (at least 1 hour).

  • record your flight numbers, arrival times and dates.

  • determine what time and date you will return back to Sydney.

You will need to provide evidence of your flights and draw or copy a map of your travels.

The following web sites will help in finding information on your flights:

FreeMind mind maps can help you create a summary of topics that you have studied.

YouTube video FreeMind tutorial

Note: Some videos may not be accessible on all school networks.

Use FreeMind to create a mind map of the Spherical Geometry course.

Use the following topic headings for different parent nodes in your mind map and add more details about spherical geometry by linking child nodes to each parent node.

  • Calculating arc lengths

  • Locating positions on the globe

  • Calculating distances between two points

  • Using time zones to solve problems

  • Calculating time difference
