What happened to my morgue?

In Australia morgues are also referred to as Departments of Forensic Medicine. At morgues forensic pathologists and forensic technicians carry out autopsies on dead bodies. It is their job to discover the cause of death. They report their findings to the coroner1. Morgues play an invaluable role in our society. It is important that there are enough morgues to process necessary autopsies. It could be quite devastating after a sudden death of a loved one to discover that it could take weeks before a funeral could be held because there was a hold up2 at the morgue. When a morgue in Western Sydney was faced with closure someone decided to do something about it. Here is her story of active citizenship.
