Electromagnetic spectrum
The electromagnetic spectrum sounds complicated but you already know some forms of electromagnetic radiation - heat and light energy which we can see and feel. There are other forms of energy that we can’t see and feel such as gamma rays, X-rays, radio waves and microwaves. All of these forms of energy together are called electromagnetic radiation or EMR. The sun is the main source of radiation. This makes life on earth possible but it can be dangerous for us. Luckily for us, many of the dangerous rays are blocked by the atmosphere around the earth. |
