The weeds that are causing the most problems at the moment are part of the Weeds of National Significance list. A weed database has been created so you can explore these noxious weeds.

Using a database

Database

Open the database or open the text document (Word 113 kB). In the database browse through the twenty Weeds of National Significance (WoNS) by pushing the Browse button. As you look at the weeds take notice of the country of origin. You can also search for weeds by typing the name of the weed and then push the Search button.

Research project

There are 20 weeds of National Significance. Choose one of them and then use these websites to research your chosen weed. You can also use the information in the weeds database and the brochure (pdf 1.8 MB).

Here is a template (Word 78 kB) to use to set out your project. Use the marking scheme (Word 60 kB) to make sure you have covered everything.
