Adobe Creative Cloud is FREE!
From the start of Term 4 2020, access to the latest applications available in Adobe Creative Cloud is via single sign-on for all students and staff, for work-at-home (WAH) use on personal devices! No more need to request annual redemption codes from Kivuto / OnThe Hub. Watch the quick introductory video below to learn how staff and students can access this amazing software on their personal devices. Updated installers for our school-owned, managed Windows devices are available via Software Catalogue, for deployment via UDM. Windows 10 v1809 is the minimum requirement, but it's best to rebuild to 1909 first. The old versions you may have installed previously will continue to work, but if you need the titles to be fully compatible with the WAH versions, they will need to be deployed and users will need to sign in with their new Adobe account in order to use the new versions. The department's Adobe software intranet page has been updated with the latest information. A special information page for students is also available.
eT4L: Windows 10 v1909
As you may have discovered already, we released Windows 10 version 1909 to all eT4L schools on 24 September. Schools can now selectively install the new Windows 10 when they are ready - to some, or all of their DoE standard devices. Upgrading to v1909 requires a rebuild of each device. It can either be started by the regular F12 boot process, or remotely using UDM – as long as the device is connected to a working network port via cable. You can update any compatible existing Windows 10 or 7 device using either of these two methods. Brand new Windows devices purchased by the school should be built to Win 10 v1909 via F12. NOTE: v1809 will only remain an option until FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER 2020. DID YOU KNOW? More than 1,350 schools have already rebuilt some of their devices to 1909 and almost 35,500 devices are now on the latest version of Windows 10!

Email security in NSW DoE
The NSW Department of Education processes millions of email messages every day. Ensuring the validity of every email received is an ongoing challenge, particularly with the growing sophistication and incidence of phishing, transmission of malware and online scams. In many cases, these senders mask the true origin of their messages, by pretending to send from within the department. These types of emails can trick their recipients into trusting their malicious content. The department, along with all NSW Government agencies, is implementing new measures to improve the security and confidence in emails we send. By the end of November, we'll enable DMARC. It secures our mail services by registering the specific applications and services that are authorised by our organisation, to send email using department-owned domain names. Most schools won't have to do anything, but if your school uses a third-party service to send email that looks like it is sent from a NSW DoE email address, then you really need to learn more about DMARC and take the advised action. The next phase will look to implement DMARC checks on incoming emails sent to department mailboxes to further improve confidence with received emails.
