Expand, collapse and compare – text version

Narrator

Let’s have a look at some of the other features of the interactive Continuum – expand, collapse and compare. The default appearance of the interactive Continuum is to have all the clusters open. You can however, collapse these clusters, making it easier to view and compare the markers.

Move your mouse to the right-hand side of the grey toolbar at the top of the Continuum. Locate the words ‘Collapse’ and ‘Expand’ on the toolbar. Each has a box or button beside it and inside the button there is a plus sign or a minus sign – plus equals expand, minus equals collapse.

Clicking on the minus sign will collapse all the clusters at once so you cannot see any of the markers. Then move your cursor to the left-hand side of the screen; you’ll see a button next to each cluster. Click on that button to expand the cluster. You can select a number of clusters at the one time - this allows you to focus on your own level of interest without distraction.

Clicking on the ‘Expand’ button at the top of the page will expand those selected cells. You can also compare clusters in the same aspect. Move the cursor to the cell you wish to compare. Click on the box near the ‘Links’ button and choose adjoining cells in the same way to select up to three clusters at once.

The ‘Compare’ button at the top of the screen will then become active. Click on the button and the selected clusters will appear on the screen together for comparison. You can also print from this screen.
