Solubility

Your task will be to plan an experiment and choose equipment to test five different substances (copper carbonate, copper sulfate, sand, salt and sugar). You will add equal amounts of the substances to test tubes containing water and then decide whether they have dissolved and formed a solution. The independent variable will be the substance that is added. The dependent variable will be if a solution is formed. All other variables should be equal, including the amount of water and test substance, the temperature and the equipment used.
