Solutions

Adding salt to water will form a solution. If you keep adding salt to water you will reach a point where no more salt will dissolve. The solid salt will form a sediment on the bottom of the container. You have dissolved the maximum amount of solute in the solvent. This is called a saturated solution. You can increase the amount of salt that will dissolve by heating the solution. This will then be called a supersaturated solution.
