Lovett family
Alfred Lovett, of the Gunditjmara people in Victoria, was the first of 21 family members to serve in the armed forces, four
of his brothers also enlisted after him; his two sons were to enlist in the Second World War. Symbolically, the National Office
of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs at Woden, ACT, occupies Lovett Tower, renamed in 2000 to honour the Lovett family,
whose family members have served in virtually every war and major troop deployment since the First World War.
