Protests

It may be desirable to hold a demonstration, rally or protest for your issue. Peaceful protests are allowed but any other form of protest is illegal.

If you wish to organise a peaceful protest it is a good idea to let the police know what you are planning. Under the Summary Offences Act 1988 section 23¹ (NSW) you also have to fill out Form 1²- ‘Notice of Intention to Hold a Public Assembly’. This is to be submitted to your local police station 7 days in advance of your protest.
