Background to Jump Rock

Over the years there have been two fatalities and a serious injury. In 2007 the Council found the area was being inundated by groups of young people wanting to experience the water jump. This led to increased noise levels, bush degradation and other issues such as parking and amenities. Local residents lobbied the Council to take action. And they did. In June 2007 they erected a big fence in an attempt to stop people jumping. In 2009 this issue again arose and the Council took action by ordering a review of the fence.
