Figures are rarely shown actual size in cartoons.

Using Microsoft Word, create your own cartoon. Your cartoon could:

  • illustrate a section of a text you are studying in class

  • make a comment on a current social or youth issue

  • make a comment on an aspect of human behaviour

  • simply present a humorous situation to amuse your audience.

There are a number of ways you can create the images and the setting for your cartoon:

  • you can draw them and scan them

  • you can use some of the images from Caricatures (.doc 510kB)

  • you can use the Clipart in Microsoft Word

  • you can use websites such as Free clipart to source your images.

Use speech bubbles if you want your characters to speak or use a line of text underneath your cartoon if you wish to make a comment on the situation in the cartoon. Or you may decide that your image communicates effectively and does not need any written text.
