Endangered animals

Keystone species

You already learned about frogs, which are one example of keystone organisms. In this section you will learn about two other kinds of keystone organisms: Bengal tigers and cassowaries.

Create a new document and answer the following questions about both Bengal tigers and cassowaries:

  1. Where are they found?
  2. What do they eat?
  3. What role do they play in their ecosystem?
  4. What are three threats that they currently face?
  5. How would their habitats be affected if they were no longer there?

Choose an endangered or vulnerable animal below or select one from a list to research.

Research the facts and prepare a presentation to persuade others to save the habitat of the animal. Watch this video to get some ideas about how to write a persuasive text on the topic of conservation.

Watch a video about the critically endangered Sumatran Rhino. Breeding programs can help, but it is essential that there is still a natural habitat to which animals can be returned.
