Research and adopt a veteran

What can be done to personalise the story of the veteran?

Frederick Brightfield was a ‘sapper’ or engineer.

Sappers played an essential role in building and maintaining structures and machines essential for day-to-day war operations. These included lines of defence such as barbed wire and trenches, building or repairing bridges, tunnels, observation posts, roads and railways.

The Australian War Memorial provides some information about the role of Australian Engineers in the First World War.
