Assist students to create a survey form, for example using Google Forms, which the audience at the launch can use to review the book.

  1. Work with students to write five or six question that will generate valuable feedback on their book. Include questions that can be scaled. For example:

    • Was the book appropriate for the intended audience: seven-year-old children?

    • Was the book visually appealing?

    • Did the book use language features that made the writing interesting?

    • Did you enjoy the book?

  2. Create a new file in Google Forms (or another suitable application) and enter your questions. The question type should be scaled (in Google Forms, ‘Linear scale’) allowing the user to choose a number, often from 1 to 5, that best indicates their response. For example, with a question such as ‘Did you enjoy the book?’ 1 might be ‘Not at all’ and 5 could be ‘Very much’. You could consider letting the audience also add a comment in response to each question or at the end of the survey.

  3. Find the Share settings and share the form with anyone who has the link.

  4. Use Bitly to create a short link to the Audience feedback form. You can create a Bitly account for free.

  5. Make the short link available to the audience at the book launch and ask audience members to fill out the review.
