Ultraviolet A (UVA) – passes through the atmosphere freely, and also penetrates deeply into the skin causing damage to the cells

Ultraviolet B (UVB) – partially blocked (85%) by the ozone layer, does not penetrate as deeply into the skin causing sunburn
