History of Bitou in Australia : solution

1908 Found in Newcastle in 1908, probably came in ships from South Africa.
  Planted by NSW Soil Conservation to stabilise dunes (1946 to 1968)
  Bitou naturalised in 1976
  Leaf tip moth first released 1989. Total of 201 releases at 74 locations. Density still increasing.
  1990 Boneseed leaf beetles, 24 releases at 13 locations, no evidence of establishment.
  1995 Bitou tortoise beetle, total of 12 releases established at all releases but only minimal damage
  1996 bitou seed fly, 13 releases, spread and established throughout range
2001 2001 Tortrix leaf rolling moth releases established at some sites.
