Suppose you own a local travel agency and you must decide how to pay your employees – by salary, hourly wage or commission. You are attempting to determine the best course of action for your business. How will your employees be paid?
Complete this activity in pairs – the employer and the employee.
You are a collaborative thinker and wish to create a culture as the ‘Best and fairest’ workplace in your local area. Write a script for a recording that debates the merit of each alternative and reaches a reasonable decision. Elements of the recording will be played as a voiceover to a presentation for the committee deciding the local Community Business Awards.
In your pair, research each of the payment options, considering the advantages and disadvantages of each. Do the viewpoints of employer and employee differ?
