By completing the activities and tasks in this resource, students are working towards achieving outcomes for the Stage 5 English 7-10 syllabus.

1.9 Students learn about: the ways sustained texts use elements such as evidence, argument, narrative, dialogue and climax

5.9 Students learn about: the selection, organisation and coherence of information and ideas in texts

3.1 Students learn to: respond to and compose increasingly complex texts in different technologies considering the effects of the technology including layout and design on meaning

11.4 Students learn to: choose learning processes, resources and technologies appropriate for particular tasks and situations

In this resource, students have the opportunity to:

•respond to a range of texts in print and online

•synthesise ideas to clarify meanings

•use a scaffold and a variety of models to compose texts

•examine relationships between structure, language and text

•use ICT to produce a review text

•collect, select, interpret and draw conclusions about current issues
