Letter from the New South Wales Chinese Anti-opium League presented to WE Johnson Esquire, Member of the House of Representatives, February 19th, 1906. Text of the letter reads, 'Dear Sir, We the undersigned on behalf on the NSW Chinese Anti-opium League, request your acceptance of this small token of our appreciation of your efforts on our behalf when urging the Commonwealth Government to prohibit the further importation of opium into Australia. We are convinced that had it not been interest you took in the matter, the splendid results achieved would never have been attained. With you we join in rejoicing at having attained are object and we have no hesitation in saying that the accomplishment will stand as a lasting  monument of your efforts to alleviate those unfortunates who were unable to help themselves. We wish you and yours every success in the future and trust you will be long spared to witness the vast amount of happiness that will be wrought by the abolition of this horrible drug.
