Many of the Terracotta Warriors in Pit Three are missing their heads. This could be the result of a fire not long after the Qin Dynasty collapsed or the work of vandals at some point. Archaeologists have painstakingly searched for matches to return some of the heads to their correct warrior but many heads have been destroyed. New preservation techniques have also led to several warriors being sprayed and restored to their original colours.
