Students can help to conserve remaining areas of biodiversity by:
-
raising public awareness of the value of the roadside and other reserves
-
explaining how damaging it is to litter, remove firewood and make tracks through these areas.
-
planting native plants at school and elsewhere and by providing nest boxes for local birds and mammals
-
controlling pets, especially cats, at night and by making sure that kittens are never released into the bush
-
learning to identify weeds and by removing them and by making sure that they never empty a fish tank into a creek.
