Creative Commons is a system that allows creators of original works (text, images, artworks, etc) to specify how they can be used. For example, a photographer can specify that her photo may be used for non-commercial purposes (ie not to make money) as long as she is properly attributed as the creator.

Copyleft takes creative commons ideas a step further to allow anyone to use, manipulate, adapt and redistribute an original work, and specifies that whoever does so must make the adapted work available to others under the same conditions.
