Outcomes
Confidently and explicitly teach, monitor, evaluate and remediate students to independently carry out data analysis and draw appropriate conclusions in science investigations.
You will achieve this through a focus on:
-
applying understanding of the impact of sources of error on data interpretation
-
teaching the use of logical thinking in a range of situations, including discussing the implications of the results of an investigation
In level 1 ‘Processing Investigations- analysing and concluding’, the focus was on explicitly teaching the skills for data analysis including tabulation, calculation of averages and graphing as well as matching actual results with results predicted if the original hypothesis was correct.
Additional support for the processes of analysing data and drawing conclusions can be found in ‘Knowing and Thinking’ level 2 and ‘Conducting Investigations’ level 2.
