The trigonometric functions

This task will move your understanding of trigonometry from finding lengths and angles to exploring waves and periodic events and how the ‘unit circle’ is beneficial in defining the values of the trigonometric functions.

Investigate and discuss trigonometric ratios using Geogebra. Follow these steps:

1. Go the Trigonometric Ratios Geogebra activity collection.

2. As a class work with and discuss the trigonometry involved in each worksheet. Consider how Pythagoras’ rule relates to the equation of a circle. Use the sliders and check boxes to explore each applet.

3. Using OneNote or other note-taking software, write some notes about each of the worksheets and pose some questions that arise. Include screenshots of the worksheets to help illustrate your questions.

4. Share the notes you have taken with your class teacher via email or USB drive.
