Read and discuss each of the descriptions and identify various elements of the text such as noun groups, pronouns, adjectives and punctuation. Allow children to make connections between their own experiences and the objects used at school today.

Encourage students to discuss:

• what the object is made of
• how the object is used
• how the object works
• the clues that tell us its age.
