Classifying phytochemicals

The use of different criteria to classify phytochemicals can cause confusion. Some criteria apply to essential nutrients which are also found in animal foods. For example omega-3 and omega-6 which are found in animal and plant food, and are essential nutrients.

Investigate the classification, source and role of phytochemicals. As a class, or in groups, work collaborativly to refine the definition of phytochemicals.
